Shari grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and has been
infatuated with horses since before she could say the word. The
beauty, power, grace, and athleticism of this animal left her in awe.
She began riding at the age of five, and hasn't looked back.
Shari started showing on the Arabian Circuit in Hunt Seat Equitation,
and did so for a few years until her 30 year old mare, Rosalette,
deserved to be retired.
Her second horse was a 21 year old rescued Thoroughbred
gelding, Captain's Fleet. He had been through a lot in his life, and
was a great boy. Captain raced until he was four, and was then
retired to the Philadelphia Police for their mounted patrol program.
After 16 years of service, Captain was leased to a woman who didn't
know much about horse nutrition. To make a long story short, the
sleek, regal, 16.2h Captain lost about 400 pounds in a few short
months. Shari took him in as her 4-H project that year. She nursed
him back to health, and he was back in the show pen the next
summer. She then let him go back to the original owner to be her
daughter's trail horse.
After Captain, came Cut To The Chase. Barney was a four year old
Percheron/Arabian cross who was originally used as a carriage horse
for weddings because of his quiet nature. She took him with the
hopes of making him a safe family horse for her friends to play on. In
a very short time, Shari was showing Barney at local shows in Hunter
Under Saddle, Halter, and Showmanship. He also quickly became
the barn favorite for trail rides. He can be ridden bareback with
three people on his back with only a halter on, and go for hours
down the trails.
Through all of this, Shari had always been drawn to the American
Quarter Horse. She was amazed by the versatility of this magnificent
creature. So, when the time was right, she sold her beloved Barney
to a friend of hers in order to follow her dream and purchase her first
Quarter Horse. That horse turned out to be PS Clue Scored, a 2001
sorrel mare, out of the Pennsylvania State University breeding
program. That mare, Dawn, has been Shari's personal riding horse for
the last 8 years, and is now the foundation broodmare for her
breeding program. Shari now has two Quarter Horses. PS Clue
Scored and her 2006 filly Clues Sweet Version.
Shari rode for the Kutztown University Equestrian Team while she
attended the school to acquire her Bachelor of Science Degree. The
IHSA is unique in that the riders don't know the horse they are
showing. Most of the time, you have never even seen the horse
before you get on it. There is no warm up time on the horse, either.
Usually, the rider gets on in the ring, and shows the horse. During her
years with the team, Shari rode her way to multiple High Point rider
awards in Western Horsemanship. In her last year in the
organization, she qualified to show at the Intercollegiate Horse Show
Association's National Championship Show. She ended her team
career by placing 7th in the Nation in Alumni Western Horsemanship.
The photo below was taken at the IHSA National Championship
Horse Show. The horse she was riding was from TN.
Shari is now focusing on her horses, and improving the already
fabulous breed...the American Quarter Horse. When not in the
barn, Shari likes to spend time with her other pets, and her family.

Meet the brains behind the beauty...
